Kelowna: November, 2025

Kelowna - November, 2025

November 8th: A few shots from the drive to Kelowna. The weather was nice (could have been sunnier) and the roads were good.

November 9th: A few shots from Kelowna City Park (also known as Veendam Park) today. There are still some very pretty colours here!

November 11th: Today I was privileged to attend and shoot the Remembrance Day Ceremonies (that makes it sound official, it wasn't, just me shooting) . Kelowna, you put on a wonderful ceremony. And so many people showed up! Anyway here are a few shots from this morning,

November 12th: Just a brief walk out to the public pier this afternoon so only a few shots. Still pretty. Then a few shots of the marina and Bernard Street at night, downtown Kelowna.

November 13th: Today I was searching for something interesting to do in Kelowna. I found it! The KF Centre for Excellence (https://kfcentre.ca/) is an air museum at the Kelowna airport. It is owned by KF Aerospace which has a wonderful history. If you have time, look it up. The planes in the museum are incredible.

For me, the highlight and centre piece is the de Havilland Mosquito. The Mosquito was an extremely versatile and important aircraft for the allies in the second world war. Built with a wooden frame to make it lighter and faster, it served as a bomber, a fighter, photo-reconnaissance, and more. When first built, it was one of the fastest planes in the world. This one was built in 1947, so it didn’t see action but still has an interesting history (see phot of sign). There are only 30 Mosquitos remaining in the world and only 4 of those are airworthy. And this is one of them!

The rest of the museum has a Hawker Tempest, a CF104 Starfighter, F86 Saber, several trainers and bush planes, fight simulators and a DC 3 that was flown around the world in 1986 for the Vancouver World’s Fair.

This is a wonderful place and the entrance fee is only $5.00! Highly recommended if you are in the area and at all interested in aviation history. All the details on each plane can be found here: https://kfcentre.ca/

November 15th: We have been a little busy the last few days so I am a little behind and no recent shots. These are just a few more from a walk along the shore of Okanagan Lake on Saturday. As we expected, there is not a lot of sunshine here this time of year.

November 18th: We have been dealing with a few issues for the past few days, so I have not been taking any photos. So, here are a few shots of the condo where we are staying. These shots were taken in April of 2024. The unit looks out onto City park, the marina and the lake with Bernard Avenue (the main street downtown with the wonderful shops and restaurants) just around the corner, a few steps away. I have added six shots just taken today.

November 24th: It has been a busy week so I wasn't out taking any photos. The first three here are from our condo(taken on the 19th) and the rest are from a short drive this evening. The clouds broke a little in the hour before sunset, creating some nice reflections in the water. For a small, place, Kelowna has a beautiful skyline.

November 26th: There is something about shooting at night. Especially with a calm lake and a beautiful shoreline for wonderful reflections.

November 28: Today we started with a short walk along Bernard Avenue with a stop in a candy store. Then a Christmas light discovery drive (quite successful) and on our return home I took a few shots of the exterior of our home away from home, at night.
