Kelowna - February 2026

February 7th: We decided to drive from Gleniffer to Saskatchewan River Crossing and down Highway 93 to Lake Louise. And why not. This highway is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful drive s anywhere. The idea was to stay in Lake Louise overnight (which we did) and take in the Ice Festival. Unfortunately, the warm weather had other ideas and the festival was cancelled because the carvings were melting too quickly. I still managed few shots and there are worse places to spend a little time than Lake Louise. Another sign of the exceptionally warm winter can be seen in the first photo. open water on Abraham Lake in February!
February 8th: A drive through the Rocky Mountains and Rogers Pass is always a treat. While pictures can never to it justice, they are better than my words.
February 11th: When I arose this morning the lake was calm and the golden sunrise made for some stunning visuals.
February 17th: Today was a good day for a stroll up Bernard Ave. A nice lunch ay a local pizzeria, and then a couple panoramic shots of the valley and downtown Kelowna. Those are a little dull in the winter cloud.
February 20th: A great day for a drive to Vernon to visit friends. Kalamalka lake was gorgeous with not a ripple to be found.
February 21st: A trip down Lakeshore Drive today to pick up a few groceries led us to a beautiful little park by the lake. As we were driving by I noticed Trumpeter Swans so we decided to stop for a few photos. Apparently (so some locals told us) they have never seen the swans here so this was a treat! Of course I had to take a few shots of other subjects too!
February 21st: This day was taken up with a day drive to try to find a good place for panorama shots of downtown Kelowna with the lake in the background. Here are several shots in the daytime and then some at night. There was some uphill hiking involved so I got my annual workout! But I think it was worth it. Especially the night shots.
February 28th: This is actually two days, the 27th and 28th. The 27th was windy and cool. We went along Lakeshore Drive to the south and got a few shots of some windsurfers and then a couple of the results of a recent wild fire and some of downtown Kelowna from that angle. Then today a little drive on Westside Road for a couple more shots of the Kelowna skyline from across the lake and lastly, a few shots of the moon. The moon shots turned out pretty good!
March 1st: Shots from the drive home. Again over two days, March 1st and 2nd. The Rockies are magnificent!
